Explore Padar Island and Its Majestic Pink Beach

13 Mar 2025

Beaches with white or brownish sands might be common all around the world. But, there are few unique beaches which have pink sands. One of them is in Komodo National Park in Indonesia. A breath-taking landscapes with lively and colorful underwater world you can enjoy simply by snorkeling around the shore.

Why is the sand pink?
It is caused by the Foraminifera, a microorganism that produces the pink/red color pigment on the coral reef. The broken coral reef pieces then washed to this beach and affect the sand color. And it turns into pink color, which this beach's name originally comes from. (source: gotravelindonesia.com)

How can I find it?
This beach is surrounded by tall hills and mountains. You don’t want to miss taking a picture with this wonderful landscape. There are three beaches surrounding Padar Island and each of them has three different sand colors. One of them is Pink Beach.
